Our Story

Beurer - 100 years of health and well-being

1919. Right after the end of World War I. In a bedroom in Ulm, the couple Käthe and Eugen Beurer ask themselves a simple question: What can we do with two sewing machines to make a living in dark, icy times and to bring a bit more warmth into people's lives? In the same year, the idea of manufacturing electric heating pads led to the registration of our own business. The foundation stone for the Beurer company was set. One hundred years later, the Swabian family business has become a globally operating company with over 1000 employees, 500 products and its own app world. The anniversary year is celebrated with various events at the main location in Ulm, in Berlin and worldwide at the subsidiaries.

The beginnings – people

In 1919 Käthe and Eugen Beurer lived in poor conditions at Frauenstraße 57 in Ulm. But the couple, especially Käthe Beurer as the driving force, had an idea – a vision – of how to improve their lives. Electrically operated heating pads should provide people with comfortable heat in the future. This was a great alternative to the bed or hot-water bottle, which were widespread at that time. In 1919 Käthe Beurer and her husband dared to take the step into self-employment. Despite all the adverse circumstances, "production" began, albeit initially under modest circumstances. With two sewing machines, the first devices were manufactured in the home bedroom. The entrepreneurial spirit of the Beurer/Bühler family was maintained over the following generations.
Since 2003, great-grandson Marco Bühler has been the fourth generation to look after the history of the family-owned company. Together with Georg Walkenbach and Oliver Neuschl, Beurer has meanwhile become a globally active group of companies.

Product engineering

The Beurer heating pads still exist 100 years later. But the Beurer product range was constantly expanded. Today, Beurer is a full-service provider with over 500 products from the wellness, medical, beauty, baby care and active sectors.
