I purchased the KS34 kitchen scale many years ago, and have been very satisfied. It is easy to operate and clean, and it is larger than most other scales on the market. A couple of things may annoy some users; a) Sometimes it goes off while pouring things being measured. This happens when it is left for a while in between measurements. This can be easily avoided by using the Hold feature. Just takes some getting used to; and 2) the fact that it does not give a reading for the first 1-5 grams. When I really need to weigh 1-5 grams of something (like yeast or salt), I put a small measuring cup then add whatever in small quantities and watch the weight change in 1 gram increment.
In any case, recently I got an error "Lo" followed by a quick shutoff of the screen. This usually means the batteries need to be changed. I changed the batteries but the error message persisted. I contacted Beurer. Although it has been many years, I was instructed to return the unit for inspection and repair. But I chose to purchase a new unit since shipping the old one was going to cost almost the same. Unfortunately the new unit gave the same error message, despite trying fresh batteries including the batteries that came with the unit. So I called and was instructed to ship both units back but this time Beurer covered the shipping costs. One week later I received a new KS34. At first I got the same error message!😩. So I kept trying different batteries until I got it to work 🙂🙂. It turned out that some batteries drain their power if they sit unused for long, even if they are brand new, and the other thing is that some drained batteries can still work in a flash light with LED bulb (low energy required) but they would not have enough juice for a more power hungry device (electronic scale).
Lessons learned! Throughout this process, customer support (Carol) was extremely helpful, understanding, and courteous.
Beurer should really make a new scale with rechargeable batteries with a USB connection.
