Endometriosis
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (womb) grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvic area and make it harder to get pregnant. According to WomensHealth.gov, more than 6.5 million women in the US suffer from endometriosis, affecting more than 11% of American women between 15 and 44. It is especially common among women in their 30s and 40s.
Common Locations
Endometriosis can be found on:
- Ovaries
- Fallopian tubes
- Tissues that hold the uterus in place
- Outer surface of the uterus
Other potential sites for growth can include the cervix, vulva, vagina, bowel, bladder, or rectum. In rare cases, endometriosis may appear in unexpected locations such as the lungs, brain, or skin.
Symptoms
Symptoms can include but not limited to:
- Pain is the most common symptom of endometriosis, including painful menstrual cycles, chronic pain in the lower back and pelvis, as well as pain during and/or after sex
- Bleeding or spotting between menstrual periods
- Infertility
- Digestive problems associated with endometriosis include constipation, bloating, diarrhea, or nausea
Prevention
While it's not possible to prevent endometriosis, lowering estrogen levels in your body can reduce your risk since estrogen thickens uterus lining during your menstrual cycle.
To reduce estrogen levels:
- Exercise regularly
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Reduce caffeine intake

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Our Menstrual Relief uses Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to relieve pain in two ways. First, it sends a mild electrical pulse through the skin that blocks pain signals from your nerves to your brain, then TENS triggers the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkiller, for an extra boost.
How big is the device?
It is quite small. About the size of the palm of your hand or 3.1 x 7.5 inches.
Is the device safe?
TENS is widely recognized in the medical industry and recommended by the NHS as a safe and effective way to relieve period pain without medication. The Menstrual Relief has been clinically-tested and approved for managing period pain and relieving the pain caused by endometriosis.
How often should the pads be replaced?
Once the gel pads begin to lose their adhesiveness it should be time to replace them. Purchase replacement gel pads here
What does it feel like?
Menstrual Relief will feel like a tapping sensation on the skin surface. When increasing or decreasing the intensity, you will feel that same sensation stronger or weaker depending on your preference.
Are there any limitations in use of the Menstrual Relief device?
The Menstrual Relief device should only be used to alleviating menstrual pain. You should not use the device if you have an implanted electrical device, e.g., a pacemaker. The Menstrual Relief electrodes should not be placed over acute illnesses, skin injuries, or cuts, or if you're pregnant.
